This week we share Christine’s journey and her amazing transformation since jumping on board with us at Citywide Fitness.
CF: Before finding Citywide, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?
CW: Before Joining Citywide I was very depressed. My doctor told me that I needed to do something to lose weight, due to a lot of health issues.
I couldn’t do a lot of outdoor activities with friends and family and made every excuse under the sun to only do the smallest part of a bush/beach walk, when away camping etc.
I was very depressed and hated the way I looked and felt tired all the time.
I tried every diet under the sun and nothing worked. I also joined the “miracle shake” revolution (which worked in short term) but the weight came straight back.
CF: How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?
CW: I remember the camping trip where the first pic was taken at the Whale at Cockle Creek. Everyone else walked from the campsite to there, but I made an excuse and drove! I only did part of the beach walk after that making excuses that if I went any further I wouldn’t make it back.
I fractured my ankle years earlier and have pins and plates in it. Unfortunately I never had any real Physio once it was healed, so I had no strength in it.
I would go on walks and constantly either fall over or roll it, so I had a real fear of hurting it again.
I was so overweight that I was embarrassed to post full pictures of myself with the kids and normally just took head shots or cropped myself out of the picture.
(note: the full picture of my son and I on the left never made it to social media prior to this).
I hated myself and felt I wasn’t fit enough or good enough. I also thought that I was too fat to join a Gym.
I was extremely depressed and at an all time low. My depression was telling me to stay in bed, but my anxiety was beating me up about being fat and lazy.
CF: How did our program help you?
CW: A friend at work told me about Citywide and how friendly everyone is. I joined an 8 week overhaul program initially. Joseph was great and gave me lots of encouragement and advice. But I must admit I didn’t really put in much effort to start with.
Then I took the kids away for our annual New Years eve camp at Cockle Creek with friends. I came back from that trip in January 2016 and looked at the photos and cried. So at the age of 50 I went to Citywide and joined up full time.
I did the Feb 2016 28 day transformation challenge. I set a goal to lose weight for my niece’s wedding in March 2016.
I haven’t looked back since.
The correctives in TT have helped me strengthen my ankle, shoulder etc. My back and hips are also a lot stronger and less painful than before.
I have gone from size 18/20 to size 12.
CF: How is life different for you now?
CW: I can honestly say that the coaches at Citywide, especially Racheal and James have saved my life.
I have a new mindset and my family has definitely benefited from me joining up.
This year on our Cockle Creek Camping trip I completed the 15 km return South Cape Bay walk with friends and kids. I was exhausted at the end but my children were proud of me and possibly for the first time I was proud of myself.
I have made heaps of friends at Citywide and recommend the program to everyone.
I have had some injuries and minor operations in the last 12 months. Racheal kept checking in on me, even when I wasn’t able to attend.
I truly appreciate all the support that I get from everyone at Citywide.
Citywide has helped me find my smile again, and I finally fit into my black dress.
P.S. Size 10 here I come! 😉 25kgs lost.
