Well the timing of this story couldn’t be more fitting with the events of today. This week’s Superstar is Chris Thomas who loves to run on a regular basis. Achieving greater things and setting bigger goals since jumping on board at Citywide. Check out his story 👇🏽
CF: Before finding Citywide, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?
CT: Coming from a running background where I was consistently exercising 3 to 4 times a week I found my biggest struggle was feeling like all I was doing was pounding the pavement. This left me struggling to find the motivation to step out of the door some days. I was also frustrated how lethargic I felt most mornings, even though I considered myself as fit and healthy.
CF: How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?
CT: It affected me mentally. I often struggled thinking that I was running 40 to 60k a week and not seeing progress such as my times decreasing or the extra weight disappearing off my waistline. I felt sluggish, tired and heavy in the morning and always thought (or made the excuse) that I was an afternoon exerciser.
CF: How did our program help you?
CT: First and foremost the program has retrained my idea of an appropriate portion size and reduced my habit of snacking on foods, and then saying to myself that I will run it off. It has also added structure to my week with a nice variety of sessions to improve my overall body fitness.
I came into the program with a specific plan to reduce my non-functional weight, decrease my waist size and become stronger throughout the core, which I was hoping would reduce cramping in my legs and improve my running technique. The program helped me run the Melbourne Marathon this year feeling a lot stronger through the core, without cramping and recovering a lot quicker after the run.
CF: How is life different for you now?
CT: I feel so much better about myself both mentally and physically and I’m waking up with an increased level of energy. I feel more confident within myself as well and feel my whole body is the fittest it has ever been, not just my cardio and legs. My weight has dropped, I’ve lost centimetres off my waist and increased core strength which has helped me hold my form on longer runs. I now can start setting goals for my running that I have only ever dreamt that I could achieve. With better overall fitness I now believe these goals are attainable.
Chris it’s amazing seeing what you’re achieving and an absolute joy to hear of your successes. Well done on your recent efforts at the Melbourne marathon and we hear you smashed it on the Point to Pinnacle today!
You are an absolute legend!!
