We caught up with Alex Roocke this week to have chat about his fantastic fitness journey since being on board at Citywide Fitness.
CF: Before finding Citywide, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?
AR: I used to struggle with being consistent and having a purpose or goal to work towards. I’ve been a member at a few gyms over the years but they’ve mostly lacked accountability and any meaningful support, so my enthusiasm would quickly fade. I didn’t see results which then led to giving in and stopping exercise altogether, as it all seemed too hard.
CF: How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?
AR: I was tired all the time, and I mean all the time, which I just thought was normal. I was often falling ill which would result in missing out on time with my young family. I recall my two boys asking me one day ‘why are you always tired and grumpy dad?’ That was a defining moment and set me on the path to walking in the doors at Citywide.
CF: How did our program help you?
AR: I remember my very first Bootcamp where I thought, or at least wished, the workout was over, however we had only just completed the warm up. The program helped me shift my mindset and embrace a holistic approach to being healthy. It provided me with a very clear and simple plan to follow which produced results and continues to deliver.
CF: How is life different for you now?
AR: Since starting at Citywide about 18 months ago I have lost 20kg+, gained mobility and have more energy than I can ever remember. I feel the best I have in over 20 years and enjoy being a role model for my young family. Most importantly has been the enjoyment of involving them who have also embraced a healthy approach to living.
