This week we share the story of one of our own, Coach Megz Turner! Check it out! 👇🏽👇🏽
A lot of the time folks can assume that our coaches have always been super fit, but some have had their own weight loss journeys, faced their own personal battles and struggles. We totally understand how hard it can be and how overwhelming it can feel. Sometimes the hardest step is just walking in those doors as Megz shares in her story…
CF: Before finding citywide, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?
MT: Biggest frustration was being overweight, as I had never been overweight before. My whole life I have been active and fit, until 2009 when I changed career, from always standing and moving to sitting on my bum for 4 years.
My frustration was I was just getting bigger and bigger and by the time I realized, I was the biggest I have ever been. Plus to then get pregnant on top of that made it worse. I would also say I’ll start Monday.
Monday came and nope I’m not starting today. 😂
CF: How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?
MT: It affected me big time, going from being a coach for 4 years taking up to 2-4 sessions a day (Les mills so doing it with them) to NOTHING for 4 years. Nothing fitted me anymore and I was covering myself up with baggy clothes, not wanting to go out and socialise.
I just felt flat and yuck in myself. Also being in a negative relationship led to me drinking more as well and that didn’t help.
I felt, crap in myself, hated that I let myself get to that state. I hated that the kids were seeing what path I was going down.
CF: How did our program help you?
MT: Citywide helped change my life around again. Took a close friend a year to get me through the doors. It was hard to walk through those doors, knowing how unfit and over weight I was. She got me to come to a Super Saturday grand final session then the next day I contacted Rach and signed up, and haven’t looked back.
To start with I got myself into a good head space and found myself again. The close community we have at Citywide made me feel at home, and made me see my worth again. Since I’ve been with Citywide I have done a few weight loss programs with them, 12 weeks, cal counting, macro counting, and then the 28 day Transformation Challenge.
The weight slowly came off and happy to say have kept it off. I still have my ups and downs but that’s life. Also it helped me to find the love of Coaching again. After Isla (4 bub) it all fell into place a coaching position came available and I took it. 2 Years on it’s the best decision I have made.
CF: How is life different for you now?
MT: My life is so much different now, Everything has changed, I love walking through the doors to come train. I love going shopping and have been able to get the clothes I want (Krista and Clare’s old stock lol 😂😂) . Getting the kids to help with food prep and them seeing the healthy life style we have.
It’s crazy to think how much weight I have lost, I did a workout one day with a 15kg vest on and that was one hard session, made me realise how far I had I’d come and never want to go back to that person again.
Megz you are a weapon and we just love what you bring to each Citywide session you take! Your energy is motivating and contagious!! Thanks so much for walking through those doors, it wouldn’t be the same without you! Your journey has been amazing!
