This week we caught up with Rohan Monk and had a chat about the big changes and smashing goals since jumping on board at Citywide Fitness. Check out his story! 👇🏽👇🏽
CF: Before finding citywide, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?
Before finding Citywide my biggest struggle was having to wear a special mouthguard to bed every night to stop me from snoring. I was concerned that I may have had a moderate sleep apnoea which isn’t ideal.
I had a referral to go see a specialist but never made it. I just decided one day that I was first going to lose weight and see if it fixed the snoring issue.
My biggest frustration was the family decided to buy me this mouthguard for Christmas so I missed out on a present I really wanted, you could hear a pin drop Christmas morning as I was opening my present 😳😬
CF: How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?
At the time I was 96kg and to be honest I wasn’t really struggling with my weight it was more the frustration of having to wear the mouthguard every night. The biggest thing was I started to read about sleep apnoea and the health issues associated with it and it wasn’t good.
My father needs to wear a mask to help him breath along with a few of my friends some still in their forties every night and that just didn’t sit well with me at all, I could see myself being added to that list.
CF: How did our program help you?
Before joining Citywide I lost 10kg in 4 weeks which was great but could see the foods I was eating at the time wouldn’t be something I could maintain moving forward.
I knew about Citywide through family and friends so I thought ok I will do the 28 day transformation learn something about nutrition on the way.
I set myself a target of 78kg I hadn’t been in the seventies for over 25 years. With the help of my coach Maggie and the team at Citywide I managed to get there learning a fair bit along the way.
The benefits the program and ongoing training has had on my health have been massive this was reflected in my results I received for the usual checks (blood sugar, cholesterol) all in the very healthy range, as for the mouthguard that is long gone never to return.
CF: How is life different for you now?
How is life different well I have managed to catch up with some old friends make plenty of new friends but more importantly surrounded myself with like-minded people having fun and a laugh but getting the job done at the same time.
Well done Rohan! Since you’ve walked in you’ve applied yourself, remained consistent, and challenged yourself! You’ve worked hard and got the results to show because of it. You continue to push yourself at every session and it’s a pleasure to have you a part of the Citywide crew! Legend!!
