This week we caught up with James Em to chat about his awesome transformation since being on board the Citywide Fitness bandwagon. The journey all began when he signed up for a 28 Day Transformation Challenge…
CF: Before finding Citywide, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?
JE: I guess my biggest frustrations related to a lack of energy and motivation to do pretty much anything outside of my work/life sphere. I was not happy with the way I looked or how I felt. I was the classic happy guy on the upside but not so on the inside.
CF: How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?
JE: Prior to Citywide I had been told by my GP in numerous occasions that I was in the early stages of diabetes. My weight sat around 112kg, my diet was poor to say the least, and I had very little enthusiasm for life. I was stuck in a rut. It was scarily cyclical as well, I’d feel bad about my health and weight then self soothe with junk food in an effort to gain some semblance of happiness.
CF: How did our program help you?
JE: The initial 28 Day Challenge proved to me that diet is key. I followed it completely and the weight began to fall off. This gave me spirit and motivation to continue.
I began to take up the exercise classes, and following some teething problems (numerous strains and pains; It’s not easy deciding to exercise for the very first time at age 43!) I fell into a rhythm.
Steadily I increased both stamina and strength, and I found myself on a positive cycle.
CF: How is life different for you now?
JE: I am absolutely the fittest I have ever been in my entire life. I have energy and a zest for life. My outlook has changed for the better and genuinely feel good about myself.
Eating well and exercising are two things I will continue for all of my days.
